LibreOffice 5.3 Features
- Writer has a new dialog for quickly jump to another page that is available through Edit > Go to Page and Ctrl+G.
- Keyboard shortcuts now appear in context menus and its visibility can be set in Tools > Options > View > Menu.
- A new Arrows Toolbox, drawing tools were added (that were previously available only in Draw and Impress).
- Document recovery dialog has been simplified; it looks better and less complicated now.
- Redesign of the Colors, Gradients, Hatching and Bitmap tabs and the addition of a Pattern tab.
- Introduction of the Page Deck in the sidebar in Writer, housing four panels – Page Format Panel, Styles Panel, Header Panel and Footer Panel.
- Four toolbar modes have been added to make it easy for users to switch the visible toolbars, which can be done in View > Toolbar Layout.
- “Open Template” has been added to the “Open” dropdown.
- The Emoji One font has been bundled for Emoji support.

Install LibreOffice
Run the following commands in terminal to install LibreOffice 5.3 in Ubuntu 16.10, Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 15.10, Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04 and other Ubuntu Derivatives.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa
sudo apt update
sudo apt dist-upgrade
Please Note: The Linux package can be installed in parallel to LibreOffice 5.1 or 5.2, but not run simultaneously – documents will be opened in the version you’ve started first.
