LibreOffice 4.4 is the most beautiful LibreOffice ever. LibreOffice 4.4 has been released with major UI revamps.
Download & Install LibreOffice 4.4
1. Before you begin, remove the previous version of LibreOffice installed on your system. Open Terminal and run the following command:
sudo apt-get purge libreoffice*
This step is not mandatory. If you don’t remove the previous version, you’ll have two LireOffice versions on your system.
2. Download LibreOffice installer from the official link. LibreOffice 4.4 is available to download on Windows, Mac and Linux from the libreoffice.org website.
3. Once downloaded, extract the package.
4. Open Terminal and run the following command. This command is used to navigate to the LibreOffice package folder:
cd Downloads/LibreOffice_4.4.0.3_Linux_x86_64_deb/DEBS
5. Now run the command to install the .deb packages:
sudo dpkg -i *.deb
Please note that the command will change depending on the downloaded package.
6. Once installed, open it from Dash. If you are unable to find LibreOffice, try restarting the system.
The upcoming Ubuntu 15.04 will ship with the latest release installed by default.
