How to install Whisker Menu 1.5.0 in Xubuntu or Linux Mint XFCE. Upgrade or add the official Whisker Menu PPA and install the application in Xubuntu 15.04, 14.10, 14.04 or 12.04 / Linux Mint 17.1, 17 or 13, use the following commands:
Whisker Menu is an alternate application launcher for Linux Mint XFCE. It comes with many exciting features such as when you open it, you are shown a list of applications you have marked as favorites. You can browse and navigate through all of the installed applications by clicking on the category buttons. Additionally, Whisker Menu keeps a list of the last ten applications that you’ve launched from it.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gottcode/gcppa
sudo apt-get update
To install/update Whisker Menu in Xubuntu (any version) or Linux Mint 13:
sudo apt-get install xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin
To install and update to the latest Whisker Menu in Linux Mint 17/17.1 systems, run the following command:
sudo apt-get install xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin/trusty
Remove and Dowgrade Whisker Menu
If you want to remove and downgrade the Whisker Menu, use:
sudo apt-get install xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin/rebecca
or
sudo apt-get install xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin/qiana
And finally restart the Xfce Panel or log out and log in back. You can do it manually or run the following command to that:
xfce4-panel --restart
