Install Lightworks 12.0.3.L Video Editing Software on 64 Bit Ubuntu 14.04 and Derivatives. Lightworks video editing software is an alternative for Apple Finalcut, Pinnacle Studio and Avid Media Composer.
It provides powerful editing tools for processing videos in the most popular video formats: H.264, XDCAM EX/HD 42, Avid DNxHD, AVC-Intra.
The latest version 12.0.3 is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. You can download and install Lightworks 12 .0.3.L on Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.10 Ubuntu 14.04 and derivatives. Some of the exciting new features in version 12 can be seen below:
- Added new Content Manager structure
- Bins and Groups (previously racks) are now all visible within the content manager
- Multicam Bins (previously Sync groups) are now all visible within the content manager

Install Lightworks on Ubuntu Systems
Open Terminal and run the following commands to install Lighworks. Please note that Lightworks 12.0.3.L is only available for 64 bit systems (amd64/x86_64):
sudo apt-get install gdebi
wget http://www.lwks.com/dmpub/lwks-12.0.3.L-amd64.deb
sudo gdebi lwks-12.0.3.L-amd64.deb
Once you have installed the Lighworks, register online to be able to access and use Lightworks in a proper manner.
If you wish to uninstall and remove Lightworks, run the following code:
sudo apt-get remove lwks
