Quick install
This is the recommended way for installing VLC.
Graphical way – via Synaptic and Terminal
Open Synaptic application (click on System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager). Search for vlc and install it. You may also want to install browser-plugin-vlc.
Open Terminal and run the following command to install VLC on Ubuntu Systems:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install vlc
To uninstall and remove VLC, run the following command:
sudo apt-get remove vlc
