How To Install Telegram Desktop 0.8.11 on Ubuntu Systems

Install the official Telegram Desktop App (via PPA) in Ubuntu and Linux Mint. Instructions on how to install Telegram Desktop 0.8.11 on Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 12.04 and Derivatives.

Telegram is an open-source, cross-platform Telegram client for Linux Systems. It can be used to send messages and media files, supports Telegram notifications, and all the basic features. The Telegram Desktop client allows the users to send and receive messages from the Linux desktop. It syncs the messages across all the platform, so it can be read from any device, both the computer and smartphone.

It also comes with the file transfer and broadcast messages feature.

Open Terminal and run the following commands to install Telegram Desktop Client on Linux Ubuntu Systems.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:atareao/telegram
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install telegram

If you want to uninstall and remove the Telegram, run the following commands:

sudo apt-get remove telegram

The same set of commands can be used to install Telegram Desktop 0.8.11 on Ubuntu Derivatives.
