Control DSLR Cameras remotely from Ubuntu. Install pkTriggerCord remote control (tethering) Linux software for Pentax DSLR cameras. Install pkTriggerCord on Linux Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.04 and Ubuntu 14.10.
The, pkTriggerCord app can be used to take pictures, reading camera status information and customize camera settings directly from the Linux Ubuntu Computer.
The pkTriggerCord has official support only for the Pentax cameras and the latest version (pkTriggerCord 0.82.00) comes with many exciting fixes and improvements.
Install pkTriggerCord 0.82.00 on Linux Ubuntu
The pkTriggerCord 0.82.00 can be installed via Dariusz Duma’s PPA on Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04, Linux Mint 17.2, Linux Mint 17.1, Linux Mint 17 and Ubuntu Derivatives.
- After you connect the camera to your PC with the USB cable, you can control the camera from pkTriggerCord. You can read status information, you can change several settings, and you can take pictures. The pictures are stored in the camera’s buffer and can be downloaded to the PC. Pictures are not written on the SD card of the camera.
Open Terminal to add the pkTriggerCord PPA to Linux Ubuntu system:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dhor/myway
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install pktriggercord
If you wish to uninstall and remove pkTriggerCord from Linux Ubuntu systems, run the command given below:
$ sudo apt-get remove pktriggercord
