App Grid is a lightweight, yet powerful alternative to the Ubuntu Software Center. App Grid has a stylish and modern user interface which displays Linux apps in a grid view, including screenshots and ratings of the respective app.
App Grid 0.246 is the latest version and can be installed on Ubuntu Systems, via PPA. To install, run the following commands in Terminal:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:appgrid/stable
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install appgrid
Optional, to remove appgrid, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove appgrid
Once installed, to open App Grid, type App Grid in Ubuntu dash and click the app-grid-launcher icon.
