Install Penguin Subtitle Player on Ubuntu
The Penguin Subtitle Player can be installed on Ubuntu 15.04, 14.04 and Derivatives, via PPA. Open Terminal and run the following commands to install Penguin Subtitle Player:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install penguin-subtitle-player
You can also download and install the Penguin Subtitle Player without the PPA, using the deb files.
If you wish to uninstall and remove the Penguin Subtitle Player, run the command given below:
$ sudo apt-get install penguin-subtitle-player
Penguin Subtitle Player is easy to use. Once installed, open the player from Ubuntu Dash and you are ready to go. To use a subtitle, download the .srt file from any sites you like and load it into the subtitle player. The subtitle player provides a translucent window which always stays on the top so that subtitles can be shown on top of the video without blocking anything.
