How To Install Stellarium 0.14.2 Planetarium Application On Ubuntu 15.10 & Ubuntu 14.04

Stellarium planetarium application for Linux Ubuntu Systems. How to install Stellarium 0.14.2 On Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 15.10, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 14.10 and Ubuntu Derivatives. Stellarium is a popular planetarium application which provides realistic sky images in 3D format. The Stellarium app gives the accurate imagery as seen from a high-resolution telescope.

Stellarium 0.14.2 is the latest version of the Stellarium planetarium application. Stellarium 0.14.2 has been released with the following changes:

  • Reduce planet brightness in daylight
  • Fixed perspective mode with offset viewport in scenery3d
  • Fixed wrong altitudes for some locations
  • Fixed some skyculture links
  • Fixed editing some shortcut keys
  • Fixed drawing reticle for telescope
  • Refactoring coloring markers of the DSO
  • Removed info about Moon phases (avoid inconsistency for strings).
  • Updated default config optionsUpdated icons for View dialog
  • Updated Stellarium DSO Catalog
  • Added list of dwarf galaxies (Search Tool)
  • Added improvements in Scenery 3D plugin

Install Stellarium 0.14.2 on Ubuntu

Run the following commands in Terminal to install Stellarium 0.14.2 on Ubuntu 15.10, Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 14.10, Linux Mint and Ubuntu Derivatives:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:stellarium/stellarium-releases
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install stellarium

Once installed, open the Stellarium 0.14.2 application from Ubuntu Dash or Menu.

If you want to uninstall and remove the Stellarium application from Linux Ubuntu Systems, run the command given below:

$ sudo apt-get remove stellarium
