Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) reaches End of Life on 28 July 2016. Upgrade 15.10 to Ubuntu 16.04. Ubuntu announced its 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) release almost 9 months ago, on October 22, 2015. As a non-LTS release, 15.10 has a 9-month month support cycle and, as such, the support period is now nearing its end and Ubuntu 15.10 will reach end of life on Thursday, July 28th. Ubuntu Security Notices will no longer include information or updated packages for Ubuntu 15.10.

Upgrade 16.04 From Ubuntu 15.10 or Ubuntu 14.04
You can directly upgrade to Ubuntu 16.04 (“Xenial Xerus”) from either Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (“Trusty Tahr”) or Ubuntu 15.10 (“Wily Werewolf”).
Be sure that you have all updates applied to your current version of Ubuntu before you upgrade.
Upgrading Ubuntu Desktops to 16.04 (Recommended)
You can easily upgrade over the network with the following procedure.
- Run the update-manager application from the Unity Dash or a command line
- In Update Manager, click the Settings… button, and enter your password to start the Software Sources application.
- Select the sub menu Updates from the Software Sources application.
- Confirm the “Notify me of a new Ubuntu version:” option is set to “For any new version”, and change it if otherwise.
- Close the Software Sources application and return to Update Manager.
- In Update Manager, click the Check button to check for new updates.
- If there are any updates to install, use the Install Updates button to install them, and press Check again after that is complete.
- A message will appear informing you of the availability of the new release.
- Click Upgrade.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
