Unity Launcher Icon – BFB Icon
The BFB icon or the Ubuntu logo (Unity Dash icon) is the launcher_bfb.png file. It is located in /usr/share/unity/icons folder of a theme and it can be easily replaced with a new one. To see where the launcher_bfb.png is located, open terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T), run the command below:
cd /usr/share/unity/icons/
ls
When you run ls command you can see the launcher_bfb.png. This is the default launcher BFB icon that we want to change with a new one.
Change BFB Ubuntu Launcher Icon
Before you replace the default BFB launcher icon, make a copy of it so that if you wish to revert in future it can be used.
- Download a new Unity BFB icon from the web or make a new one on your own. The recommended size is 128×128 pixels. It may be used in 256×256 pixels as well.
- If you want to change the default launcher icon, go to /usr/share/unity/icons and change the launcher_bfb.png image.
- For any other theme, copy the newly created launcher icon to /usr/share/themes/THEME-NAME/unity. Please note that the THEME-NAME is the Ubuntu Theme you wish to use and replace its BFB launcher icon.
- Finally log out and log in again to see the changes.
To restore the original Unity Dash icon, simply move back the original icon file.
