Install Ukuu on Ubuntu Systems and easily install or upgrade the latest release of Kernel on Ubuntu System. Ubuntu Kernel Upgrade Utility is a wonderful tool to upgrade to the latest Kernel release. Ukku fetches the latest main line Linux kernel from kernel.ubuntu.com, and install it automatically.
Ukuu 16.7 is the latest release of the Ubuntu Kernel upgrade utility too. It brings the following features:
- Ukuu can now start in non-admin mode. It will prompt for the admin password before installing or removing a kernel.
- Ubuntu’s official kernels will also be listed. It will show all installed Ubuntu kernels with an option to remove them.
- The notification functionality has been fixed. It will now display a notification dialog with an option to install the new update. The notification interval can also be selected as hourly, daily, weekly, etc.
Install Ukuu on Ubuntu
Run the following commands in a terminal to install Ukuu on Ubuntu Systems:
sudo apt-add-repository -y ppa:teejee2008/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ukuu
Once installed, launch Ukuu from Ubuntu Dash or by entering the sudo ukuu-gtk command in Terminal. The Ukuu window shows the latest available Linux Kernel and the installed Kernel that is being currently used. Of all the listed Kernels, select the Kernel you wish to install from the list and press Install button on the bottom of the window.
Ubuntu users can also enable in the Settings to notify when a release (major/point) is available for Linux Ubuntu Systems.
