Ubuntu Budgie is now an official Ubuntu Flavor. Here’s how to install Budgie on Ubuntu 16.10 and Ubuntu 16.04 Systems. Until now, Budgie was the default desktop of Solus Operating System.
The Ubuntu Technical Board has granted official community flavor status and it will be known as Ubuntu Budgie. An official flavor status mean that apart from the obvious official build and hosting facilities, the new Ubuntu Budgie community will be able to officially access help sites such as Ask Ubuntu, Ubuntu Forums, wiki.ubuntu.com, Launchpad.net and others.
Install Budgie on Ubuntu 16.10
Run the following commands to install Budgie on Ubuntu 16.04 Systems:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:budgie-remix/ppa
sudo apt update
sudo apt install budgie-desktop budgie-welcome
Install Budgie on Ubuntu 16.10
You don’t need PPA to install Budgie on Ubuntu 16.10 Systems. Run the following commands to install Budgie on Ubuntu 16.10 Systems:
sudo apt install budgie-desktop budgie-core
Next, log out and select the Budgie session from the Unity Greeter Session menu.
