How To Install Telegram Desktop On Ubuntu 16.10

It can also be used to send any documents of any type and it has no limits on the size of your media and chats. Telegram delivers messages and documents faster than any other application as Telegram servers are spread worldwide for security and speed. Telegram messages are heavily encrypted and can self-destruct. The application is free forever with no ads nor any subscription fees. For messaging purposes, end-to-end encryption is used in Telegram Secret Chats and Server-client encryption is used in Telegram cloud chats.

How is Telegram different from WhatsApp?

Unlike WhatsApp, Telegram is a cloud-based messenger with seamless sync. As a result, you can access your messages from several devices at once, including tablets and computers, and share an unlimited number of photos, videos and files (doc, zip, mp3, etc.) of up to 1,5 GB each. And if you don’t want to store that data on your device, you can always keep it in the cloud.

Anyone can use Telegram on smartphones, tablets, and computers. You can use Telegram’s web version, Telegram’s desktop apps or Telegram apps for iOS (6 and above), Android (2.2 and up) and Windows Phone.   for Windows, OSX, and Linux. Users can use their mobile phone number to log in to Telegram app.

Install Telegram In Ubuntu

Telegram v 0.10.16 is the latest release and it brings a new audio player design. Users can quick reply from notifications or hide all notifications button added or change notifications location and maximum count. Linux Ubuntu users can enable native notifications in Settings.

Ubuntu users can install Telegram Desktop on Ubuntu 16.10 or Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 15.10, Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.10 and Ubuntu 14.04 Systems. Run the following commands in Terminal to install Telegram Desktop on Ubuntu:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:atareao/telegram
sudo apt update
sudo apt install telegram

Once installed, open the Telegram application from Ubuntu Dash or Terminal.
