Downloading Desktop Editors
The latest version of desktop editors can be always downloaded using the links on the website : http://www.onlyoffice.com/download-desktop.aspx You will need to choose the installation package depending on the Linux version installed on your computer:
- DEB package – in case you have a version of Debian based Linux distributive;
- RPM package – in case you have a version of Red Hat based Linux distributive;
- GUI package – in case you have a version of some other popular Linux distributive (also including ALT Linux, Centos, GosLinux, etc.).
Installing Desktop Editors from repository
A better option to install desktop editors is to add their repository to your Linux OS. To do that:
Add GPG key:
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv-keys CB2DE8E5
Add desktop editors repository: using any available text editor (e.g. nano) add the following record to the /etc/apt/sources.list file (you will need to enter root password to edit it and save changes afterwards):
deb http://download.onlyoffice.com/repo/debian squeeze main
While the APT package is built against Debian Squeeze, it is compatible with a number of Debian derivatives (including Ubuntu) which means you can use the same repository across all these distributions.
Update the package manager cache:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install onlyoffice-desktopeditors
Running Desktop Editors
Once the installation is over, you can run the editors using the terminal command:
desktopeditors
In case you prefer to use graphical user interface, you can always find the editors in your computer Application menu – Office – ONLYOFFICE.
