Albert quick launcher can be installed in Ubuntu 16.10, Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 15.10, Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04 or Linux Mint Systems. Albert is a lightweight and quick launcher for Linux systems. It can quickly launch applications, open files or perform web searches. It can be used with almost all kinds of Desktop Environments – Xfce, LXDE, LXQt, Cinnamon, Unity (if you don’t like the Dash) and so on.
Albert 0.9.0 comes with a new architecture that allows extensions to register extensions themselves. Based on this changes a new extension “External extensions” has been implemented, which can be used to let Albert run external programs and scripts as extensions. Further, finally a Firefox bookmark extension made it into the extension inventory. The virtual box extension got some major improvements as well.
You can install the Albert quick launcher in Ubuntu or Linux Mint and other Derivatives, using the WebUpd8 PPA. Open Terminal and run the following commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install albert
Once installed, open the Albert quick launcher from Ubuntu Dash. Look out for Albert in the panel bar. It is minimized onto it.
