Install Avidemux Video Editor 2.7 on Ubuntu Linux

Avidemux 2.7 released. Install Avidemux video editor on Ubuntu 17 and Ubuntu 16 Systems. Avidemux is a free video editor designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks. It supports many file types, including AVI, DVD compatible MPEG files, MP4 and ASF, using a variety of codecs. Tasks can be automated using projects, job queue and powerful scripting capabilities.

Avidemux is available for Linux, BSD, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows under the GNU GPL license.

Install Avidemux 2.7 On Ubuntu

Run the following commands in Terminal to install Avidemux 2.7 in Ubuntu and Ubuntu Derivative Systems:


sudo apt-get update
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1/avidemux
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install avidemux2.6-qt

Once installed, open the Avidemux Video Editor from Ubuntu Dash or Terminal.

Uninstal Avidemux FromUbuntu

If you don’t like the Avidemux video editor and wish to uninstall and remove Avidemux, run the following commands:

sudo apt-get remove --autoremove avidemux2.6-qt
sudo apt-get update
