Install Oracle Java 11 on Linux Ubuntu Systems. Java SE Development Kit 11 is a development environment for building applications, and components using the Java programming language. The JDK includes tools useful for developing and testing programs written in the Java programming language and running on the Java platform.
Install Oracle Java 11
Run the following commands in terminal to install the latest Oracle Java 11 LTS in Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 18.10, Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 14.04 Systems, via linuxuprising/java PPA:
sudo apt-get update
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:linuxuprising/java
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install oracle-java11-installer
Java binaries are not hosted in this PPA due to licensing. The packages in this PPA download and install Oracle Java 11, so a working Internet connection is required. The packages in this PPA are based on the WebUpd8 Oracle Java PPA packages: https://launchpad.net/~webupd8team/+archive/ubuntu/java
After the installation, install oracle-java11-set-default package to set Java 11 as default (If you have installed multiple Java versions):
sudo apt-get install oracle-java11-set-default
