What is a Creator Account
The Creator Account on Instagram gives you a set of tools that makes it easier to control your online presence, understand your growth and manage your messages.
- Contact information and Category Labels: Contact information and category labels (such as athlete, author or blogger) are optional and can be turned on or off.
- Growth insights: Understand what content helps grow your audience by mapping new and existing posts to net follower changes.
- Secondary Inbox: You’ll have access to an inbox with Primary and General tabs. You can use this inbox to organize your messages and control notifications.
- Ranked Requests: You’ll be able to sort your requests by received date or by top accounts.
- Quick Replies: Use shortcuts for common responses.
Instagram Insights
Instagram Insights lets you learn more about your followers and about how your content performs with your audience. You can also view insights for specific posts and stories you’ve created to see how each performed and how people engaged with them. From your profile, you can access Insights in the Instagram app.
The following are insights you can view from the Insights tab on your profile:
- Content: This section lets you view insights on your posts, stories, and promotions.
- Activity: This section lets you view important insights on your profile, including Interactions (such as profile visits and website clicks) and Discovery (how many people see your content and where they find it).
- Audience: This section tells you more about your followers and audience, including growth in follower count by day or week.
NOTE : You’ll only see insights for posts and stories you’ve posted since you converted to a professional account.
Difference Between Creator Account vs. Business Account
While the Instagram business profile is aimed for companies’ accounts, the Instagram creator account is designed on individual grounds. It enhances the look and feel of the Instagram account for an individual user experience.
In general, there are 3 major differences between creator and business account Instagram.
- Instagram Insights: The Instagram creator accounts get more deep analytics and insights than any normal Instagram business profiles.
- Inbox: The Instagram creator profiles’ inbox is organized with three tabs – Primary, General, and Requests. The messages labelled within the Primary folder is for those whose notifications you want. The General folder is for any regular messages whereas the the Request folder is for messages from other users who does not follow you.
- Profile: Instagram creator profiles have more customization features and thus enhances the overall flexibility of the respective Instagram page.
Switch to Instagram Creator Account
You can convert your personal or Business Profile into a Creator Account to access features that make it easier to control your online presence, understand your growth and manage your messages.
NOTE: If your personal account is private, completing these steps will make it public. Also, all pending follow requests will be automatically accepted when you go public.
To switch your personal account or Business profile to a Creator Account:
- Go to your account and tap
- Select the options bar icon.
- Select Account.
- If you are migrating from a personal account, choose Switch to Professional Account and tap Creator.
- If you are migrating from a Business profile, choose Switch to Creator Account.
- Select your category. You can choose a category that best describes what you do.
- If desired, connect to your Facebook Page
- If you have a Facebook Page you would like to link to your account, select it from the list that appears.
- If you do not want to link a Facebook Page, select Skip.
- Review your contact information. At least one form of contact information is required. You’ll have the option to display or hide this on your profile.
- Chose your profile display options. You can decide whether to hide or display your category and contact details on your profile.
