Wine (Wine Is Not An Emulator) for Linux Ubuntu Systems. How to install Wine 1.9.5 on Ubuntu 15.10, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 14.10 and Ubuntu 15.10 Systems. Wine enables the Linux and Unix users to run Windows software on their systems, via the Winelib software library.
Wine 1.9.5 is the latest version of the Wine software and has been released with the following changes:
- New version of the Mono engine, with 64-bit support.
- Beginnings of the WineD3D command stream.
- Support for effect states in Direct3DX.
- Drag & drop improvements.
- Various bug fixes.

Install Wine 1.9.5
Wine 1.9.5 can be installed on Ubuntu Systems, via PPA. Run the following commands in Terminal to install Wine 1.9.5 on Ubuntu 15.10, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.10 Systems:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wine/wine-builds
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install --install-recommends wine-staging
$ sudo apt-get install winehq-staging
Once installed, open the Wine software from Ubuntu Dash.
If you aren’t happy with the Wine, run the command given below to uninstall and remove Wine:
$ sudo apt-get install ppa-purge
$ sudo ppa-purge ppa:wine/wine-builds
