What is Domain Authority?
Domain Authority (DA) is a search engine ranking score developed by Moz that predicts how well a website will rank on search engine result pages (SERPs). A Domain Authority score ranges from one to 100 – 100 being the best DA and 1 being the worst DA.. In general terms higher DA score corresponds to a greater ability to rank of a website.
Domain Authority is calculated by evaluating multiple factors, including linking root domains and the number of total links, into a single DA score. Then this DA score is used when comparing websites or tracking the “ranking strength” of a website over time. Domain Authority metrics are incorporated into dozens of SEO and online marketing platforms across the web. Domain Authority is Moz’s way of telling us how good a website ranks. It is determined using a 0 to 100 scale and the higher the DA, the better rank the website holds.
Domain Authority consists of more than 40 ranking factors, such as the number of links pointing to the site and the number of linking root domains – essentially the number of other sites linking to your site! (See MozTrust, MozRank , etc.)
Domain Authority between 40 and 50 is considered average, and Domain Authority between 50 and 60 is considered good and Domain Authority over 60 is considered excellent.
Page Authority?
Page Authority (PA) is a score developed by Moz that predicts how well a specific page will rank on search engine result pages (SERP). Page Authority scores range from one to 100, with higher scores corresponding to a greater ability to rank.
Page Authority is based on data from our web index and takes into account dozens of factors. Like Domain Authority, it uses a machine learning model to identify the algorithm that best correlates with rankings across the thousands of SERPs that we predict against, then produces Page Authority scores using that specific calculation.
Domain Authority vs. Page Authority
Whereas Domain Authority measures the predictive ranking strength of entire domains or subdomains, Page Authority measures the strength of individual pages.
Domain Authority can be described as a collective result of these three dimensions:
1. Prestige of a website
2. Quality of the content
3. Competition around the website subject

Improve Domain Authority
The best way to influence the Domain Authority metric is to improve your overall SEO. Getting more and more backlinks from more unique websites and domains is the only way to improve website’s Domain Authority. In particular, you should focus on your link profile by getting more links from other well-linked-to pages.
If your Domain Authority is getting low or hasn’t gone up, the three most influencing factors are:
1. Your link profile hasn’t yet been captured in the web index.
2. Your links are from places that don’t contribute to Google ranking.
3. You keep on repeating linking domains than you have already added previously.
