Install NitroShare 0.3.0 on Ubuntu 15.04/14.10/14.04. NitroShare is a cross-platform network file transfer application for Linux Ubuntu. Transfer files on Ubuntu, between computers on local network using NitroShare, across the local network.

It is very easy to use, after installing the desktop application on each device, you can instantly be able to transfer files from one device to another. The application is completely free to download and use.

NitroShare features:

Automatic Discovery: Each device with NitroShare installed broadcasts its presence to other devices on the network. This eliminates the need for manual configuration.

Fast Transfers: Nobody appreciates a slow file transfer. NitroShare squeezes maximum performance out of your network to ensure things move quickly.

Transfer Anything: It doesn’t matter whether you want to transfer a single file or a large folder, NitroShare will take care of getting your data where it needs to go.

Open Source: The source code for the desktop application is available on GitHub, allowing other programmers to help improve the application.

NitroShare 0.3

The NitroShare 0.3 series contains the first NitroShare release in over two years and fixes a large number of issues with the previous version:

  • Updated to Qt 5.x from 4.x
  • Removed configuration wizard
  • Network discovery fully automated
  • Limit removed on size of transferred files
  • Added the ability to restart transfers after completion

System Requirements

In order to run NitroShare, please ensure that you are using one of the supported operating systems:

  • Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1
  • Mac OS X 10.7+
  • Linux with Qt 5 libraries installed (tested against Ubuntu 14.04+)

Download NitroShare

Download NitroShare (available for Ubuntu 14.04, 14.10 or 15.04, Windows and Mac OS X)

Install NitroShare

Run the following commands to install NitroShare on Ubuntu 15.04/14.10/14.04 and derivatives using its official PPA:sudo add-apt-repository ppa:george-edison55/nitroshare
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nitroshare
