Announcing the release, the DigiKam Team wrote “This release is the result of another huge bugs triage on KDE bugzilla where more than 30 files have been closed. Thanks to Maik Qualmann who maintain KDE4 version while KF5 port and GSoC 2015 projects are in progress. Both are planed to be completed while sprint 2016.”

Run the following commands in Terminal to install DigiKam 4.13.0 on Kubuntu 14.10, Kubuntu 14.04 and Linux Mint 17 KDE systems, using KDE 4.13 and non KDE Ubuntu 14.04 derivatives
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:philip5/extra
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install digikam
Run the following commands in Terminal to install DigiKam 4.13.0 on Kubuntu 14.10, Kubuntu 14.04 and Linux Mint 17 KDE systems, using KDE 4.14
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:philip5/kubuntu-backports
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install digikam
If you wish to uninstall and remove DigiKam 4.12.0 from Ubuntu Systems, run the command given below:
$ sudo apt-get remove digikam
