Install DigiKam 4.13.0 On Ubuntu & Kubuntu Systems

Install DigiKam 4.13.0 on Ubuntu and Kubuntu Systems – Kubuntu 14.10, Kubuntu 14.04 and Linux Mint 17 KDE, using KDE 4.13 and KDE 4.14. DigiKam is a popular photo management program designed for editing images. It can be used to import, organize and export digital photos to and from your computer. With DigiKam you can :

  • import pictures
  • organize your collection
  • view items
  • edit and enhance
  • create (slideshows, calendar, print, …)
  • share your creations (using social web services, email, your own web allery, …)

Install DigiKam 4.13.0

 

Announcing the release, the DigiKam Team wrote “This release is the result of another huge bugs triage on KDE bugzilla where more than 30 files have been closed. Thanks to Maik Qualmann who maintain KDE4 version while KF5 port and GSoC 2015 projects are in progress. Both are planed to be completed while sprint 2016.”

Some of the most notable changes and bug-fixes that has been released with DigiKam 4.13.0 are:

  • digikam crashes fetching pictures SD-Card
  • Crash when adding tags
  • Embedded preview changes from full to reduced size regardless album view settings [patch][/patch]
  • Digikam crash when importing photos from a camera
  • DigiKam thumbnails don’t load, even after rebuild thumbnails and application crashes
  • Digikam crashed after saving a new version of a modified picture
  • Crash during face detection
  • Tag Manager crashes when adding a new tag
  • UI freeze when importing to remote storage
  • Digikam Crashes when running maintenance

Install DigiKam 4.13.0

Run the following commands in Terminal to install DigiKam 4.13.0 on Kubuntu 14.10, Kubuntu 14.04 and Linux Mint 17 KDE systems, using KDE 4.13 and non KDE Ubuntu 14.04 derivatives

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:philip5/extra
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install digikam

Run the following commands in Terminal to install DigiKam 4.13.0 on Kubuntu 14.10, Kubuntu 14.04 and Linux Mint 17 KDE systems, using KDE 4.14

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:philip5/kubuntu-backports
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install digikam

If you wish to uninstall and remove DigiKam 4.12.0 from Ubuntu Systems, run the command given below:


$ sudo apt-get remove digikam
