Install VLC 2.2.1 “Terry Pratchett” On Ubuntu

VLC 2.2.1 “Terry Pratchett” released. How to download and install VLC 2.2.1 on Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 15.10, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.10 and Ubuntu Derivatives.

VLC 2.2.1 is the first bugfix release of the “Weatherwax” branch of our popular media player. VLC 2.2.1 “Terry Pratchett” is a fixed version of 2.2.0 “WeatherWax”.It fixes numerous crashes (FLAC, SPC), codec issues (VP9, Atrac3, AAC), regressions and several issues (Resume, MP4 chapters, MKV over network) and security issues.

Install VLC 2.2.1 on Ubuntu

Run the following commands in Terminal to install Install VLC 2.2.1 on Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 15.10, Ubuntu 14.10, Linux Mint and Ubuntu Derivatives.

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install vlc

Once installed, open the VLC media player from Ubuntu Dash or Terminal.

If you wish to uninstall or remove VLC 2.2.1 from Ubuntu Systems, run the command given below:

$ sudo apt-get remove vlc
