Install Skype 1.6 Alpha On Ubuntu 16.04

Skype 1.6 Alpha released for Linux Ubuntu. Install Skype 1.6 Alpha on Ubuntu 16.04/Ubuntu 16.10 and other Ubuntu Derivatives. Skype 1.6 Alpha has been released with ability to paste files from clipboard.

Highlights of Skype 1.6 for Linux Alpha:

  • Added the ability to paste files from clipboard
  • Added settings for emoticons (Under the Messaging section of Settings)
  • Fixed message quoting
  • Added the option to unpin Favorites from Recent conversations
  • Names of group chats aren’t automatically converted to lowercase after editing
  • Several under-the-hood stability improvements

Install Skype 1.6 Alpha

Run the following commands in Terminal to install Skype 1.6 Alpha for Linux Ubuntu Systems:

sudo apt-get install gdebi
wget https://repo.skype.com/deb/pool/main/s/skypeforlinux/skypeforlinux_1.6.0.3_amd64.deb
sudo gdebi skypeforlinux_1.6.0.3_amd64.deb

Once installed, open Skype 1.6 Alpha from Ubuntu Dash
