Ubuntu Weather Applet – How To Install Simple Weather Indicator On Ubuntu 16.04

Ubuntu weather applet. How to install and use Simple Weather Indicator on Ubuntu 16.04. Simple Weather Indicator is a weather app indicator for Ubuntu Unity and GNOME 3 Desktop.

The Simple Weather Indicator is developed with Python and uses two web service calls Ip-api.com, Weather-api.madadipouya.com (based on Open Weather Map) to detect user’s location and temperature respectively.

Install Simple Weather Indicator PPA

Simple Weather Indicator v0.6 is the latest release. It brings the following changes:

  • New Location detection API
  • Moved to robust API end point with higher uptime
  • Hide location preference
  • Round temperature preference
  • Minor bug fixes

Ubuntu users can install Simple Weather Indicator on Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.04 and other Ubuntu Derivatives:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kasra-mp/ubuntu-indicator-weather
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install indicator-weather

Once installed, open the Weather Indicator from Ubuntu Dash.
