Install Disk Encryption Software Veracrypt On Linux Ubuntu

Install disk encryption software Veracrypt using Linux command line. Veracrypt is a full disk encryption software for Linux Ubuntu Systems. VeraCrypt is brought to you by IDRIX (https://www.idrix.fr) and that is based on TrueCrypt 7.1a. VeraCrypt adds enhanced security to the algorithms used for system and partitions encryption making it immune to new developments in brute-force attacks. VeraCrypt also solves many vulnerabilities and security issues found in TrueCrypt.

Installing VeraCrypt 1.19 on Ubuntu

VeraCrypt 1.19 is the latest release. It includes fixes for issues reported by Quarkslab audit that was funded by OSTIF. This release also brings many enhancements and fixes, like Serpent algorithm speedup by a factor of 2.5 and the support of Windows 32-bit for EFI system encryption.

Run the following commands in Terminal to install VeraCrypt 1.19 on Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 16.10 and other Ubuntu Derivatives:

sudo apt update
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:unit193/encryption
sudo apt update
sudo apt install veracrypt

Once installed, open veracrypt from Ubuntu Dash.
