Viber is a free messaging app, with voice and video call feature for Linux Ubuntu. Just like WhatsApp, you can send messages, send texts, photos, videos, or files. Record quick-sending voice and instant video messages.

Needless to say you can make voice and video calls and even join communities. It also gives you much needed customization features such as delete and edit seen messages and set disappearing messages with self-destruct timer for extra privacy.

The viber application supports multiplatform feature which can be used to connect on multiple devices and easily transfer calls between devices or share screen from desktop in video calls.

Install Viber via .deb on Linux Ubuntu

$ wget -c https://download.cdn.viber.com/cdn/desktop/Linux/viber.deb
$ sudo dpkg -i viber.deb

Install Viber via AppImage on Linux Ubuntu

$ wget -c https://download.cdn.viber.com/desktop/Linux/viber.AppImage
$ chmod +x viber.AppImage
$ ./viber.AppImage

Once viber is installed, open the Viber app on your phone and scan the code you see on the desktop app to use the application on laptop/system.
