How to install Kodi 14.1 (XBMC) media player on Linux Ubuntu systems. You can install Kodi 14.1 via the official PPA on Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 12.04 and other Ubuntu Derivatives.
The Kodi Media Center, formerly known as XBMC, has released its latest version (Kodi 14.1) codename ‘Helix’. The latest version, Kodi 14.1 uses FFmpeg 2.4.4 and is now able to play back h.265 and VP9 video codecs. It also comes with improved Kodi Library and audio playback features.
Install Kodi 14.1 via PPA in Ubuntu
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install kodi
You can also install the encode addon for Kodi media center. Run the following command to install it:
sudo apt-get install kodi-audioencoder-* kodi-pvr-*
If you want to uninstall and remove Converseen, run the following command:
sudo apt-get remove kodi
