Install NitroShare Network File Transfer/File Sharing Software on Ubuntu 14.04/14.10/15.04

Install NitroShare “Network File Transfer Software” on Ubuntu 15.04/14.10/14.04. Nitroshare is a network file-sharing application for Linux Ubutu systems. Niroshare app makes sending a file to another machine on the local network as easy as dragging-and-dropping.

NitroShare is designed to be hassle-free in every aspect. Just install the application on any machine running Ubuntu or Windows and you’re all set. Each machine should discover all of the other machines on the local network. The application integrates with the operating system, using application indicators on Ubuntu and the system tray on Windows.

Install NitroShare Network File Transfer

To install NitroShare 0.2 (stable release) on PC, download and install the binaries for Windows, Mac OS, Ubuntu, and/or OpenSUSE/Fedora from the link given below:

Download NitroShare 0.2

Before installing it on Ubuntu systems, please checkout the OS type, 32-bit (i386) or 64-bit (amd64) and then download the “nitroshare_0.2_amd64.deb” or “nitroshare_0.2_i386.deb” (depending on your OS type).

Once downloaded, click and open the package with Ubuntu Software Center and install it.

Ubuntu users can download NitroShare from the daily build PPA.

In order to use application indicators on supported Linux platforms, you also need the following development packages installed:

  • GTK+ 2
  • libappindicator
  • libnotify

Building the Installers and Packages

The instructions below describe the steps necessary to create installers or packages on each of the supported platforms.

Ubuntu

Ensure that the devscripts package is installed and build the package by running the following commands:

sudo apt-get install devscripts
debuild -b
