Delete recent documents list in Ubuntu. Disable recent documents in Unity Desktop. The recent Document list: Shows documents that have been previously opened or used.
Luckily, you can disable recent documents in Unity Desktop (Ubuntu). Here’s how:
- Open System Settings
- Select Security & Privacy
- Select Files & Applications
- Tick (Toggle) the ON switch. Record file and application usage.
- Turn off the button to clear and disable the record of files and application usage. Now, the recent documents history and recently used files will no longer be recorded and shown in the Unity’s “Recently Used”.
The “Files & Applications” tab reads: Files and applications you’ve used recently can be shown in the Dash and elsewhere. If other people can see or access your user account, you may wish to limit which items are recorded.
- Tick (Toggle) the ON switch. Record file and application usage.
- You can also “Clear Usage Data…”
The settings that can be erased (usage data that is to be cleared) are:
- Chat Logs
- Documents
- Music
- Pictures
- Presentations
- Spreadsheets
- Videos
