How To Install Warp AI Terminal For Linux Ubuntu

Here is how to install Warp AI-powered terminal emulator for Linux Ubuntu Sytems. Warp is an AI terminal for Ubuntu System.

Warp AI-powered terminal emulator lets you write commands more easily, whether you’re working keyboard-first or using your mouse to set a cursor position. Users can insert, copy, or select like an IDE or edit with default keybindings or Vim.

Users can ask Warp AI to suggest the right command or chat with the AI to get answers about any programming question. Users can recall commands or debug errors.

Warp comes with beautiful themes for dark and light mode included. Warp supports bash, fish, and zsh; if your login shell is set to something else (e.g. Nushell) Warp will load zsh instead. Users can customize your zsh shell environment by modifying the .zshrc file.

Download and Install Warp AI Terminal

Users can download the DEB Package from the official website. Once you have downloaded the DEB file, go to the directory where it was downloaded. Open the directory in your terminal using the cd command or by right-clicking on the screen and hitting “Open in Terminal” from the context menu.

Next in the terminal run the following command:

sudo apt install warp-terminal_*.deb

Once the installation is finished, open the Warp application from the applications menu or run the following command:

warp-terminal

NOTE: You will you have to “Sign Up” to be able to use the Warp AI Terminal.

Using – Warp AI Command Suggestions

Warp AI is an AI-powered assistant that’s integrated within the Warp terminal. Warp AI Command Suggestions can be accessed by typing CTRL-` or # on the command line.

Users can access Warp AI:

  • SHIFT-CTRL-SPACE from the command line or with some text or a block selected
  • Click the Warp AI icon from any block
  • Right-click on any block or selected text and select “Ask Warp AI” from the menu
  • Click the Warp AI icon from the top bar menu in Warp
