Transmission bittorrent client for Ubuntu Linux. Transmission 2.90 is released after two years. How to install Transmission 2.90 bittorrent client on Ubuntu 15.10, Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.04 and Ubuntu 14.10 Systems. Transmission is an open source, volunteer-based project. Unlike some BitTorrent clients, Transmission doesn’t play games with its users to make money:

  • Transmission doesn’t bundle toolbars, pop-up ads, flash ads, twitter tools, or anything else.
  • It doesn’t hold some feaures back for a payware version.
  • Its source code is available for anyone to review.
  • We don’t track our users, and our website and forums have no third-party ads or analytics.

Transmission is designed for easy, powerful use. We’ve set the defaults to Just Work and it only takes a few clicks to configure advanced features like watch directories, bad peer blocklists, and the web interface. Transmission has the features you want from a BitTorrent client: encryption, a web interface, peer exchange, magnet links, DHT, µTP, UPnP and NAT-PMP port forwarding, webseed support, watch directories, tracker editing, global and per-torrent speed limits, and more.

  • Remove torrent file from watch directory even if “show options dialog” is not set

Install Transmission 2.90 on Ubuntu

You can download and install Transmission 2.90 bittorrent client on Ubuntu Systems. Visit the link below to download and install the latest version of Transmission 2.90. Run the following commands to add the latest Transmission PPA (version 2.90) on Ubuntu Systems.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:transmissionbt/ppa

Once done, open the Software & Updater tool (from Ubuntu Dash) and look for all the available updates. You will see the Transmission 2.90 release available in update list. Click on the update button to upgrade the software to the latest available version.

Once upgraded and installed, open the Transmission from Ubuntu Dash or Terminal.

If you want to roll back and purge the PPA, run the command:

sudo apt-get install ppa-purge
sudo ppa-purge ppa:transmissionbt/ppa
