How to install Libreoffice 5.2.4 RC2 on Ubuntu 16.04 and Ubuntu 16.10. LibreOffice 5.2.4 bugfix release brings various new features, fixes and enhancements. LibreOffice 5.2.4 is a stable version.
The LibreOffice 5.2.4 RC2 release brings the following changes and features:
1. Core/General
- Google Drive’s Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) now supported.
- New user interface for Template Manager.
- Print to File now available within the list of printers in Print dialog.
- Native gtk3 menubar and gtk3 tooltips, popovers and context menus in LibreOffice.
- Added support for signature descriptions and signing with the same certificate multiple times.
- Revamped find and replace dialog box.
- Improve performance of VCL event dispatch.
- The official TDF builds for Windows and Linux contain a crash reporter with a server based crash analysis.

Install LibreOffice 5.2.4
Before you begin to install LibreOffice 5.2.4 RC2, you will have to remove the pre-installed version of LibreOffice. To uninstall and remove the already installed LibreOffice and fresh install the latest one, run:
$ sudo apt-get remove --purge libreoffice*
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install libreoffice
If the above command doesn’t install the latest version, you can run the following commands:
On 32 bit Linux Ubuntu
$ sudo apt-get update
$ wget http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/5.2.4/deb/x86/LibreOffice_5.2.4_Linux_x86_deb.tar.gz
$ tar -xvf LibreOffice_5.2.4_Linux_x86_deb.tar.gz
$ cd LibreOffice_5.2.4_Linux_x86_deb/DEBS/
$ sudo dpkg -i *.deb
On 64 bit Linux Ubuntu
$ sudo apt-get update
$ wget http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/5.2.4/deb/x86_64/LibreOffice_5.2.4_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz
$ tar -xvf LibreOffice_5.2.4_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz
$ cd LibreOffice_5.2.4_Linux_x86-64_deb/DEBS/
$ sudo dpkg -i *.deb
Once installed, open LibreOffice from Ubuntu Dash or Terminal.
