How To Download/Upgrade to Firefox 37 in Ubuntu Systems

By Sourabh / April 1, 2015 Category: How To, Ubuntu

Download and install Firefox 37 (Mozilla). Here’s how to upgarde to Firefox 37, released with Heartbeat User Feedback System (User Rating System).

Firefox 37 now features HTTPS for secure searching on Bing. It also brings an improved protection against site impersonation and support for encryption traffic over HTTP/2 AltSvc. For HTML5, the Media Source Extensions (MSE) API now enables native HTML5 playback on YouTube.

The new Heartbeat User Feedback System’s description page says it provides real-time understanding of our existing Desktop user population, allowing us to pivot more quickly based on the needs and desires of our users. Heartbeat ties user perception to technical information so we can take your feedback and feed that into future Firefox releases.

If you wish to disable the Firefox Heatbeat user rating system:

  • Open about:config in a new tab
  • Search for and set browser.selfsupport.url to “”

How to upgrade to Firefox 37 in Ubuntu:

Ubuntu 14.10/14.04/12.04 users, Firefox 37 will be available for upgrade very soon via the Ubuntu official repositories. Once the official build of Firefox 37 is available for the official upgrade, it can be installed via the Ubuntu Software Update.
