Install Tickr RSS News Reader in Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.04 and Ubuntu 14.10

Tickr is an open-source RSS news ticker (RSS feed reader) for Linux Ubuntu Systems. Install Tickr 0.6.4 in Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.04 and Ubuntu 14.10.

Tickr RSS news feader scrolls the latest headlines and article titles from the favourite RSS feeds. The scroll is placed horizontally and can be placed anywhere on the Linux Ubuntu desktop.

Install Tickr in Ubuntu

Tickr 0.6.4 is the latest version available. To install it in Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.04 and Ubuntu 14.10, click on the link below to open the installer package with the Ubuntu Software Centre:

Click to Install Tickr

You can also install Tickr using the following command:

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install tickr

If you wish to uninstall and remove the Tickr, run the command given below to remove Tickr:

$ sudo apt-get remove tickr

Set Tickr

Once installed, you can set Tickr as per you need. To begin with, you can select the different feeds to select from. You can select the from technology to news. Tickr RSS feader comes with a built-in list of over 30 feeds.

To add your own feeds:

  • Right click on the Tickr bar
  • Go to File > Open Feed
  • Enter Feed URL
  • Click “Add/Upd” button
  • Click “OK”

To adjust the various other settings:

  • Right click on the Tickr bar
  • Go to Edit > Preferences
  • Configure the settings
