Hide Mounted Drives From Desktop
Ubuntu users can hide mounted drives in Ubuntu Dock. There are two ways to hide mounted drives in Ubuntu:
1. using the dconf editor tool (GUI)
2. using the terminal (CLI)
Of these two the best method to hide mounted drives in Ubuntu is using the command line option. To do so – hide mounted drives in Ubuntu – using terminal:
1. Open a new Terminal window ( press Ctrl + Alt + t to launch terminal).
2. In the terminal, run the following command:
gsettings set org.gnome.shell.extensions.dash-to-dock show-mounts false
As soon as the command is executed, the changes will applied effect and mounted drives showing on the Ubuntu Dock will instantly disappear.
gsettings Command
gsettings offers a simple commandline interface to GSettings. It lets you get, set or monitor an individual key for changes. The SCHEMA and KEY arguments are required for most commands to specify the schema id and the name of the key to operate on. The schema id may optionally have a :PATH suffix. Specifying the path is only needed if the schema does not have a fixed path.
When setting a key, you also need specify a VALUE The format for the value is that of a serialized GVariant, so e.g. a string must include explicit quotes: “‘foo'”. This format is also used when printing out values.
The command argument set is used to set the value of KEY to VALUE. The value is specified as a serialised GVariant.
If you want to enable the hidden mounted drives – show mounted drive on Ubuntu, open terminal and rerun the following command:
gsettings set org.gnome.shell.extensions.dash-to-dock show-mounts true
