Audacity 2.3.0 released; install Audacity via Ubuntu Terminal. This post also explains how to uninstall Audacity in Ubuntu. Audacity 2.3.0 replaces all previous versions and it comes with over 90 bugs fixed since 2.2.2.
The latest version of Audacity includes fixes to Timer Record, and to ‘Envelope Points’. It also brings a new feature – “Punch and Roll Recording” and toolbars controlling volume and speed can now be resized for greater precision. For a bit more customization options, play-at-Speed now can be adjusted whilst playing. Also, pinned-play-head can now be repositioned by dragging.

Install Audacity Ubuntu Terminal
Run the following commands in terminal to install Audacity 2.3.0 in Ubuntu via command line:
sudo apt-get update
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1/audacity
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install audacity
If you wish to uninstall Audacity via Ubuntu command line, run the following command:
sudo apt-get remove --autoremove audacity audacity-data
sudo apt-get update
