Install Nuvola Player 3 on Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.04, Fedora and Debian

Install Nuvola Player 3 on Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.04, Fedora and Debian. Nuvola Player 3 Beta is a Cloud music player with Desktop integration.

Nuvola Player is a runtime for web-based music streaming services providing more native user experience and integration with Linux desktop environments than usual web browsers can offer. It tries to feel and look like a native application as possible.

Nuvola Player is a cloud music player. Nuvola Player 3 currently supports the following nine music streaming services:

  1. Bandcamp
  2. Deezer
  3. Google Play Music
  4. Grooveshark
  5. Jango
  6. Mixcloud
  7. Rdio
  8. Spotify
  9. This is My Jam

Although Nuvola Player 3.0 is currently in development, beta builds are available and are recommended for general usage. Nuvola Player 3 has been rewritten from scratch and contains plenty of improvements over Nuvola Player 2.

Nuvola features powerful desktop integration. It integrates music services with the desktop, providing MPRIS v2 support. It supports integration with the Ubuntu Sound Menu, GNOME Shell MediaPlayer extension and Cinnamon Sound applet, desktop notifications. It is also enabled for multimedia keys support and Unity quicklists.

Install Nuvola Player 3 Beta

The Nuvola Player 3 can be installed on Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.04, Fedora 20, Fedora 21 and Debian Jessie and Debian Sid. To install Nuvola Player 3, download the official installer and install it manually on Ubuntu, Fedora and Debian Systems.

Install Tiliado Repository Installer

  1. Download Tiliado Repository Installer for your distribution release and open it with Ubuntu Software Center.
    • Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Trusty Tahr
    • Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn
    • Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet
  2. Wait a bit as Ubuntu Software Center is a pretty slow beast. Then click Install button.
  3. Enter your password to confirm installation.

Add Nuvola Player Repository

Make sure you have installed Tiliado Repository Installer version 0.3.2 or newer. If unsure, download the latest version.

  1. Click Ubuntu button in the top left corner to open Unity Dash.
  2. Launch Tiliado Repositories installer.
  3. Use anonymous access or Enter login credentials to your Tiliado account.
  4. Select Nuvola Player repository.
  5. Select repository components you want to install Nuvola Player from.
  6. Select which packages you want to install from the repository.
  7. Review the summary and click Install button.
  8. Enter your password to confirm installation.
  9. If installation is successful, click Quit button. Otherwise copy the installation log and contact support.
  10. Click Ubuntu button in the top left corner to open Unity Dash.
  11. Launch Nuvola Player 3.
  12. You should see Nuvola Player 3 services selector window.
